Happy National Counseling Week to our outstanding counselors - Mr.Stansbury, Ms. Carmon and Mrs. Anderson! We are very fortunate to have them be part of our team at Ben Reifel Middle School. Their dedication to our students and staff is remarkable! Thank you Nick, Lindsey and Rachel! We so appreciate all of you!! ❤️

SFSD loves our school counselors! Join us in thanking them this week (and every week) for "Helping Students Dream Big!"

This year’s 8th grade accelerated Social Studies students participated in NHD-National History Day. Students selected a topic related to the theme Frontiers: People, Places, Ideas. Work was showcased as an exhibit, website, documentary or performance on March 2 in the library. Judges from throughout the community met with students to provide feedback and ask questions about their work. We will soon be announcing finalists who will move onto the South Dakota Regional contest. We are proud of how hard each student worked on these projects.

On Thursday, March 30th, we will host our first ever BRMS Fine Arts Night from 6:00-7:30pm. This event will feature many of our music ensembles along with an art showcase from many of our BRMS students. There will be music department spirit wear and snacks available for purchase. We look forward to seeing everyone!

Sixth grade students have been practicing their dividing fractions skills with some math games. Students were able to work collaboratively with peers, while applying strategies to a variety of problems. What an engaging idea!

This week, 6th grade Bison had a great learning day courtesy of Sanford Underground Research Facility. Their curiosity was on full display as they engaged in tasks and asked fantastic questions.

On Monday, the music department held their Pops Concert, playing music from Beethoven to the James Bond theme. They sounded incredible! We are so proud of how hard students and staff worked to prepare for this. ❤️

Taste of Ben Reifel. We had a wonderful afternoon of celebrating our different cultures at Ben Reifel. We had dancing, a fashion show and lots of yummy cultural foods. What a great way to spend an afternoon!!

Yesterday, the Promising Futures Fund took the eighth grade girls basketball team to South Dakota State University. Students received a tour of the athletic buildings, enjoyed a delicious lunch, listened to current students and President Dunn speak about college life, and preparing for it. Students also were lucky to watch a Division 1 girls basketball game before meeting the players after.
Thank you to both the Promising Futures Fund and South Dakota State University for giving our players this opportunity to see what their future could hold.

Yesterday, we were honored to host our students who received Student of the Month awards during the first semester. Families joined their students, who listened to Principal Hieronimus share what it means to be a member of the Bison family. Congratulations! We are so incredibly proud of our students for displaying the Bison Way.
