After classroom K05 read “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus" by Mo Willems, students made their own pigeons! A bus driver begins the story by expressing to readers the importance of not letting the pigeon drive the bus while he is gone. The story teaches the reader about promises and persuasion.

In classroom 402 science studies, students explored the fascinating ways plants and animals are designed for survival. As part of the investigation, students examined the skulls and pelts of carnivores and herbivores. They discussed how differences in their teeth - sharp for tearing meat or flat for grinding plants - help them meet their needs. The pelts revealed how fur and skin can offer protection, camouflage, and temperature regulation - all essential for survival in different environments. Students also observed how the placement of their eyes contributes to their survival, providing an advantage in spotting prey or predators. These activities helped students understand how both internal and external structures are perfectly suited for each animal’s way of life.
