Mrs. DeHaven, Assistant Principal, read “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” by Dr. Seuss to every classroom. She stepped into full Grinch mode with her voice and animations - the students loved it! After she finished the story, Mrs. DeHaven handed out mini candy canes. You can listen to her read a couple pages at https://youtu.be/F1W1BbvyI9o.

A message from our PTO: Thank you Discovery community for making this year’s Danceathon fundraiser a success. Because of your generous support, over $46,000 was raised for Discovery! From community events, to field trip bussing, to classroom grants supporting curriculum - students’ educational experiences are enhanced by every dollar that is donated. After the Holiday break, we are having popcorn parties for every classroom to celebrate and to thank students. Thank you again, Discovery community!

Our lost and found is starting to overflow! We have jackets, sweatshirts, gloves, boots, hats, water bottles, etc. The last day to look for lost items is Thursday, December 19. Anything not claimed will be donated on Friday, December 20, at 8:00 am. Lost and found is located inside the school, so you will have to check-in at the office to look for lost items.

Monday was National Special Education Day; and although we are late, we couldn’t go without acknowledging our AMAZING Special Education Team! Their dedication and drive do not go unnoticed. We are grateful to have a SPED Team that not only works together, but also shares the same goals to help students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. You are appreciated SPED Team!

Before Thanksgiving break, classroom 206 students learned how to make butter! They poured the correct amount of ingredients into jars. Then students took turns shaking the jars until the butter was completely done. It was a lot of work shaking the jars, but they had so much fun! Once the butter was done, they got to enjoy it on some crackers and bread. Yum!

Do you know a teacher who goes above and beyond to inspire their students? Now is the time to make sure they get the recognition they deserve!
