Mrs. Sylvester's 1st grade scientists have been exploring different defenses animals have against predators. They created models of animals with spikes and used the predator (the comb) to test their models.

Happy Boss's Day to these two incredible leaders! Thanks for all you do, Mrs. Dobberpuhl (Principal) and Mr. Wagner (Assistant Principal).

In case you didn't make it last time to Mrs. Saavedra's "mini salon" in 4th grade for touch ups last picture day, or you need a "redo", here's your chance! Picture retake day is Wednesday, October 23rd.

Thank you to all of the families who walked with us this morning at the Native American Parade downtown! We had a great float, lots of candy, and Terry the Eagle with us today!

Did you see the new soccer net we received this week? The students love it! Our students enjoy playing outside. We are looking for more playground balls for our students! They enjoy playing soccer, basketball, football, and kickball. If you would like to donate a playground ball (any kind or size), our students would be so thankful! You can drop off in the school office.

The Terry Redlin Elementary OSO club will be participating in the 7th Annual Native American Parade on Monday, October 14th. The parade starts at 11am and travels down Phillips Avenue starting at 13th street. Families who are going to walk in the parade will meet starting at 10am in the Sunshine Foods parking lot. Students are encouraged to wear their Terry Redlin t-shirts or regalia. We hope you will join us walking in the parade or see you as a spectator on Monday!

Terry Redlin Elementary celebrated attendance on Friday afternoon! We have over 100 students who still have perfect attendance this year! That is amazing! Students with perfect attendance were randomly drawn and then were able to select a staff member to race against!! The teachers had to race wearing a fun inflatable! We will compile more pictures and share them this week!

Our playground added a couple new features this week including two new picnic tables and a huge soccer net! This project was made possible by a grant awarded to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sioux Falls through the State Farm Youth Action Grant Program. The youth group members from Good News Church assembled the picnic tables and a soccer goal before delivering them to Terry Redlin Elementary. Bill Thompson from State Farm was on hand to help set up our new tables and soccer goal. Thank you to Habitat for Humanity, State Farm and Good News Church!

The Terry Redlin Elementary Food Pantry will NOT be open on Tuesday, October 15th. It WILL BE OPEN on Thursday, October 17th. The pantry will be open from 4-5pm.

Terry Redlin is starting a "need it station" for students in the nurse's office. Nurse Allison and School Counselor Mrs. Tagtow are collecting items like hair ties, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, Chapstick, and Kleenex . All items will be mini/travel size. If you're ever at a store and would like to pick up a travel size item to help stock the cart, we would greatly appreciate it! You can drop off any donations in the school office. We are also looking for a fun cart to store all of our items!

Očéti Šakówiŋ Families:
The Native American Day Parade is near! We are waiting for final details about where to meet and which spot we will walk in. While we wait for that information, start preparing to walk with the Terry Redlin OSO club. You are welcome to wear your Terry Redlin t-shirt, that was provided at the beginning of the school year, or you can wear your regalia! We are so excited to share Terry Redlin OSO with the community of Sioux Falls.
If you haven't turned in your form to walk with us, feel free to contact the office and tell them how many you will have walking with the Terry Redlin Float.
We hope to see you at the Native American Parade on October 14th!
