We have the best characters on staff at Terry Redlin Elementary! Staff dressed up for today's Character Crawl!

We had another SOARing breakfast this morning at Terry Redlin Elementary. Each month, classroom teachers nominate one of their students for the SOARing student, then invite their families in for donuts and juice, and to hear why their child was nominated for this award. We have amazing students at Terry Redlin!

The Terry Redlin Elementary Character Crawl is tomorrow, October 31st! Students and staff are invited to wear a costume to school of their favorite family movie, cartoon, or tv show. This is our October reward for students earning over 8,000 SOAR slips. Way to go, students!

The Terry Redlin Food Pantry is open today, October 29th from 4-5pm. The pantry is open every Tuesday that school is in session. Please bring your blue ID to door B. If you need an ID for the pantry, please stop in the school office.

3rd graders painted pumpkins to resemble a character from their favorite book and then displayed them in the library!

Congratulations to 3rd grade for having the best average daily attendance the first quarter of the school year! Thank you to Taco John's for helping us celebrate outstanding attendance by providing churros for each of our 3rd graders!

Ms. Foley's 5th graders built composite volume haunted houses during math class!

We absolutely love seeing our students working with each other! We have the best students at Terry Redlin!

We celebrated over 80 students who had perfect attendance the first quarter of the school year! These students displayed "Nacho Average Attendance!" Families were invited in to celebrate with them as they enjoyed nachos with cheese as a reward! We love celebrating our students!

Get ready for Character Crawl day on Thursday, October 31st as students can wear their favorite costume of a character from a family friendly movie, tv show, or cartoon. Students have reached the goal of 8,000 SOAR slips so they will parade around the building showing everyone their favorite character!

Terry Redlin Elementary students participated in the Sioux Falls Neighborhood soccer on Saturdays at Meldrum Park and today competed at the Festival of Champions at Sanford Crossing. We are so proud of them!!

Mrs. Sylvester's class read "The Busy Little Squirrel" this week and finished the week being busy with their 4th grade buddies making squirrels with fall leaves.

Members of the American Legion stopped by Terry Redlin Elementary today to provide 4th graders with a lesson on the American flag. They learned about the history of our flag, how to take care of it, and how to properly fold the flag. 4th graders raise the American flag each morning in front of our school. Thank you to the Sioux Falls American Legion for their service and sharing their knowledge with our students!

Mrs. Beier's 1st grade class has reached their first milestone this year - everyone has passed level 1 in Lexia! We love getting to celebrate student growth! Way to go first graders!

October is National Principal's Month! Terry Redlin Elementary is lucky to have an amazing principal! Thank you, Mrs. Dobberpuhl, for always loving our students, staff, and families. You are the best!

Ms. Ounnarath's Kindergarten class took a mini break from plants and became chef scientists and created their own ice cream! They learned that you needed milk, sugar, and vanilla extract to make the "cream" in ice cream and needed ice and salt to make the "ice" in ice cream! Students were able to choose between chocolate and strawberry flavor after creating their experiment!

The downtown library is hosting a Kidz-N-Coats giveaway on Friday, October 18th. Kids must be present to receive a coat and they will have sizes infant-18 years.

Students are working at earning 8,000 SOAR slips this month to participate in a Character Crawl. Students earn SOAR slips by showing self-control, taking ownership, having a positive attitude, and being respectful. We keep track of SOAR slips and, throughout the month, our thermometer becomes filled in with characters. The best part - we have a 2nd grader who free draws the characters! He is an incredible artist!!
We have reached 4,000 slips so far! Once we reach 8,000 SOAR slips, students and staff will be able to dress in their favorite character costume and we will have a character crawl (parade) to celebrate their success!
