SFSD would like to give a huge shout-out to our partners at Delta Dental who visit schools to complete much-needed dental work for eligible students! Cleanings, cavities, and root canals are all done in the mobile bus, so students don’t have to miss school for an appointment! You put a smile on our faces, Delta Dental! Thank you!

3rds graders were provided the opportunity to see the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra perform at the Washington Pavilion on Monday 3/20. It was the perfect way to end their orchestra unit, where they've been learning all about the instrument families.

401 spent 4 weeks working on a research projects for writing. Each student selected a country that they wanted to learn more about. As a class they did research on 3 topics from their countries that they were most interested in. To publish their writing they created posters of their writing and pictures. They also got the chance to share their hard work with 2nd grade students and staff members at a gallery walk held yesterday.

402's Mystery Reader for Everybody Reads was Ms. Smith's grandma, Donna Smith. She read "If You Ever Want to Bring an Alligator to School, DON'T" written and illustrated by Elise Parsley, an author from Flandreau, SD. She is a retired teacher of 20+ years, and she even taught 4th grade! She taught in Eagle Butte and Flandreau. The kids already "knew" Grandma Donna because her and her 1970 Volkswagon were characters in a fiction story that the class wrote together during our Fiction Unit
